The Chemical Engineering is one of the Institute of Technology's most prestigious and oldest departments. The department was founded in 1997 with the goal of being one of the greatest chemical engineering study centres in the country, with a focus on cutting-edge technology research and the production of career-ready chemical engineers. The department offers chemical engineering B. Tech. and M.Tech. programmes with intake capacities of 75 and 23 students, respectively. GATE and VET-qualified applicants are eligible for M.Tech admission. The course curriculum was created at the level of a renowned technical institute such as IIT/NIT, keeping current trends in the chemical industry in mind. The department is well-equipped with highly qualified faculty members who are dedicated to providing high-quality chemical engineering instruction. Faculty members have published over 100 papers in journals, international and national conferences, and seminars as well as four textbooks and two patents. It has well-equipped laboratories in chemical engineering's core and specialized fields. Funding agencies such as the AICTE and the UGC have awarded the department a total research grant of Rs. 51 lakhs. In the year 2011, the department founded a student society, the Chemical Engineering Students Society (ChESS). Society's goal is to give students a place where they may improve their talents and general personality. "ChESS" recently launched its own book club and will soon publish its own e-magazine, RaSAYAN (an in-house publication of ChESS). The department encourages undergraduate students to get involved in research and present their findings on scientific platforms. The department's students have actively participated in a variety of extracurricular and co-curricular activities at the institution, as well as at the national and international levels, and have achieved notable results. Mr. Thammina Kiran, a final-year student, and Mr. Utkarsh Patel, a recent graduate, recently obtained the 59th and 30th, All India Rank (AIR) in Gate 2022, respectively. DuPont, Reliance, ESSAR Oil, GACL, SAHARA (UAE), Jindal, BALCO, Ma’aden (KSA) HDFC, Nu-Vista Limited (NUVOCO Cement), and many other reputable companies are among the alumni. Suggestions for further enhancement are warmly welcomed by the department.
